Out of the most popular 1980s horror movies remade recently…First it was Halloween…then Friday the 13th…now A Nightmare on Elm St.

Are they better the first time around the second time around???

Simple answer: NO!

It’s hard to remake these cult classics and make them original enough to get the approval of the general consensus. Now, I can’t speak for everyone but the horror movies of old were not always scariest by seeing which movie could have the most blood, guts, and gore…at least I didn’t think so.

I’m not saying I don’t enjoy watching movies like that and each time I see movies like this my stomach does take some unexpected twists and turns…in a good way of course.

Halloween and Friday the 13th had serial killers that were masked and the only thing original was the masks that were worn. Nightmare on Elm St was all Freddie Krueger and you’d recognize Robert Englund’s face and features in every version of the movie. He is what made that franchise…you can’t just put that red striped sweater and razor clawed glove on anyone and expect us fans to go yippee. Jackie Earle Haley would not have been my first choice to play Freddie in the remake as he’s not the most imposing figure/actor out there. I won’t knock the movie entirely until I see it but I am taking the cynic approach at this point. You tell me what you think just from the clips of the original and the remake below:
