The only reason I’ve tuned in to Saturday Night Live these days is because of the comical genius of Andy Samberg. You know the guy from the famed music videos ‘D in a box,’ ‘Jizz in my pants,’ and most recently ‘Like a boss.’

Well, this movie ‘Hot Rod’ came out in 2007 and I was expecting the same type of humor out of Andy Samberg. I’m not too sure I was that impressed. Don’t get me wrong, there were some funny moments but it definitely wasn’t a movie that achieved ‘piss in my pants’ status from me.

Here’s a quick recap…

Samberg plays the role of Rod Kimble who is a wannabe stuntman (more like a wannabe Evil Knievel) that just can’t seem to get anything right. He’s a 20-something guy, still living at home with his Mom, ailing Step-Dad, and younger brother. He has a love/hate relationship with his Step-Dad and is constantly doing ‘stunts’ in an effort to seek approval or respect from him.

So he drives his little moped into things instead of over them, but surprisingly he gets back up every time. It’s hilarious seeing him mess up these stunts and seeing the crowd’s reaction. He thinks he’s a legitimate stuntman…others think they’re watching Jackass: The Lost Tapes.

The whole gist is how Rod attempts to raise money by doing these asinine stunts so his Step-Dad can undergo a lifesaving heart operation.

If anything, remember the Asian dude dancing...

I’d rate this movie’s humor similar to that of Idiocracy and Napolean Dynamite just not quite as funny. It’s worth watching if nothing else is on.
