We Are the World‘s Spanish version was released Monday night on the Cristina show. Somos El Mundo was translated by Gloria Estefan and was produced by Emilio Estefan . As the original song, it was very touching to see so many artists come together for a positive cause. Artist such as Vicente Fernandez, Juanes, Ricky Martin, Jose Feliciano, Luis Enrique, Aventura, and, Shakira joined their voices to sing as one. This version of We are the World gave me goose bumps. It really portrayed how the singers were trying to deliver the message of hope to Haiti.

There were minor things I would change. I would try to eliminate the rap/reggaton from the song. Although, Pitbull and Daddy Yankee delivered good lyrics – I think that sound would have been better without their part. I would have loved if Emilio kept Michael Jackson’s voice somewhere in the song similar to the American version. I think that would have touched the hearts of many Latinos who loved Michael. Overall, I think this song was amazing. My hat goes off to Emilio and all the artists who contributed to this song.
