As corny as this might be now, remember the hit song by the Clash? It's fitting to ask the same question on whether Brett Favre should play another year with the Minnesota Vikings or just hang it up for good. Should he stay, or should he go???
Here for you young bucks that never heard of this song or the Clash for that matter:
So anyways, my thoughts on the NFC Championship game between the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings in a condensed version:
Did the Saints earn this win? Well, if you go by their history then sure they might deserve to win but they didn't earn this victory. They had a great season this year, but the Vikings were the better team. It's almost like everyone including the refs and the Vikings themselves wanted the Saints to win...well except for Brett Favre. The Vikings beat themselves basically. The Vikings committed 5 TOs to the Saints 1, and they still had an opportunity to win if Favre didn't throw that interception late in the 4th quarter.
Was the interception in the 4th quarter the reason the Vikings lost? NO WAY! Like I said, the Vikings gave too many oppotunities back to the Saints and let them in the game. 475 of total yards against 257 was a total domination by the Vikings but they gave the ball right back to the Saints in critical situations. Favre is the reason the Vikings had this phenomenal of a year and the reason they were inches away from a Super Bowl...
How should the Vikings fans feel? Proud...just proud and hopeful that #4 will return.
What's up with the 'roughing the passer' no-calls against Favre? If it were Tom Brady behind center, he might have gotten those calls. You think? Favre is great but probably not well liked throughout the league. He was getting hammered well after he released the football. I'm not talking about accidental hits or a DLinemen in motion that hits him right at the release. He was getting nailed time after time again and again. Why didn't the refs call those? You don't want to baby the quarterback, but those hits were ridiculous.
The most talked about topic in the offseason will be? Of course...will Brett Favre return to the Vikings. The team is stacked offensively and needs his leadership. Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson couldn't have had a year like Favre did this year. It's clear that the Vikings do have weapons on offense with Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Bernard Berrian, Visanthe Shiancoe, and Percy Harvin...the quarterback position needed to be tended to obviously. Their defense is top notch...with Favre at 40+, they still have a shot but they need to give him more protection...the dude will be more brittle by that time.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Vikings should've won the game. Favre was getting hit left and right and no calls were made. Not fair! Hopefully, he'll be back next season!
Now - the Saints - I'm so pissed they won. They made it to the Superbowl but they won't be able to handle Manning! So see ya - Saints!
I'm so sick of this Brett Favre talk. The Packers moved on and found a gem in Aaron Rodgers. We loved him but he screwed us fans. Good riddance Brett Farveee
