Ever come across a website and see a video that is simply contagious and you have to share it with your buddies? Well, it just so happens to be on a website that might not be suitable for work so sending your compadres the link just won’t work. What if there is a way to download that video directly from the web site as a video file so you can email it or place it in a file sharing location for them to view? Excellent idea right? Well, what kind of program does that without you having to shell out hundreds of dollars for the software?
An open source product developed by DVDVideoSoft by the name Free YouTube Download (2.2.4.53) does the trick perfectly. Check it out here: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-dvd-video-software-download.htm (If you notice, there are so many other open source products here of valuable use that I will discuss in the future)
Download the product and run through the installation accepting all the default selections.
Start the program and it first looks like this below:

Copy the URL where the video resides and paste it in the Input URLs box
Choose where you want to save the video in the Output folder location
Then select the format you want it converted to: Only choices are MP4, FLV, and AVI. Click Download. After a short time depending on the size of the video, the conversion should be complete. It’s that simple!
